How can I make a significant impact on Wisconsin law affecting families?

1. Contact your State Senator if the bill is in the Senate and/or your State Representative if the bill is in the State Assembly.  If you do not know who represents you ... look them up by entering your address into the Wisconsin State Legislature web site.

2. Call, write or email your representative.  Contacting your representative to voice your opinion is critical to passing legislation.  If a legislator hears from approximately five or more constituents, they will be more inclined to support a bill.  Remember, your representatives want to hear from you.  If a bill starts with AB, you contact your State Assemblyman/Representative.  If a bill start with SB, you contact your State Senator.

3. Attend a legislative committee public hearing and voice your opinion on the specific bill.  Ask your representatives when a public hearing will be held on the specific bill.

4. Educate and encourage others to do the above if impacted by the proposed legislative changes.
